The government may be encouraging us to trade in our trusty old bangers for shiny new motors to keep the industry going, but here at Provide Design we have come up with a much more useful idea.

We are pleased to introduce our very own….

WEBSITE SCRAPPAGE SCHEME!

That’s it folks, just like on the car version, trade in your clapped out old website for a brand new, professionally crafted website from Provide Design and enjoy 25% off your final bill.

SO WHY SHOULD YOU TRADE IN YOUR OLD WEBSITE?

Unlike the UK’s roads, the internet is constantly being upgraded by way of the computers we view it on and the web browsers we use. Technology has leapt forward so fast within the last few years that capability of websites has increased ten fold and it is actually now possible to get some return from your website investment. New ideas about software and design make anything possible. It is necessary to keep your website up to date to make sure today’s audience get the best user experience possible.

Unless your existing website is what you would class as a classic Rolls Royce then you shouldn’t really be representing yourself online with a Robin Reliant…

SO WHAT KIND OF WEBSITE CAN YOU GET?

The website scrappage scheme applies to all websites that we design and build as long as you are replacing an existing website.

Here at Provide Design we design, develop and build many different types of websites including: E-commerce shops, brochure websites, blogs, video sites, content management systems, bespoke database systems, email marketing systems, Flash animation, club websites, news websites, online directories and much, much more.

This is all bespoke, the real deal, no off the shelf templates here. We custom design and develop all our websites based on an initial discussion with you about what you really want from your new site. We will propose the best solution based on available technology, fitted around your needs.

View our portfolio of websites here.

25% OFF SOUNDS NICE, BUT WHAT IS IT WORTH?

The typical cost of a new website, designed, built and hosted by Provide Design is £2220.00. This is based on a brochure style website with some elements of Flash animation, a built in blog, content management system and a built in email marketing system that allows you to communicate effectively with your visitors.

So 25% off that is worth a massive £555.00!!

All our websites are built and priced to your specification so please get in touch and we will gladly put together a quote based on your requirements.

OFFER ENDS 28th FEBRUARY 2010 SO CONTACT US SOON!

Terms of the Offer:

1. You must be replacing an existing website to be eligible for this deal.

2. Minimum spend on a new website is £1200.00.

3. Payment terms for work under this offer is 20% deposit with order and balance on completion of work.

4. Offer is only available on quotes for new websites, not updates to existing websites or single webpages.

5. Offer is not available in conjunction with any other discounts from Provide Design.

6. Offer is available on all new website quotes (if an order has not already been placed) from 01/12/2009 to 28/02/2010 (cut off date for orders).

7. All website work is subject to our standard terms & conditions. View here.

Provide Design are proud to announce that our hard work and creativity have bagged Dunstable College a FE First Marketing Excellence award for the ‘Heroes’ recruitment campaign.

The campaign itself was entered in the highly subscribed ‘best 14-19 year old campaign’ category, and came home with the silver.

This national award is strong recognition for the campaign that has largely contributed to a massive 30% increase in full-time age 16-19 student numbers at the College.

We have just been re-comissioned to develop the visual identity of the 2010 Heroes Evolution campaign so watch this space to see how we raise the bar for next year.

… sums up a lot of what happened at my Dad’s 60th Birthday Party this weekend just past.

When my Dad was 6 years old he saw the Dagenham Girl Pipers performing a march. He has been telling us all about this memory for the last year mentioning that he would love to throw some kind of party and have them perform at it. A nonsense fantasy he thought.

With my Dad’s 60th birthday happening this year, some how my Uncle Tony managed to book 7 of the 22 strong Dagenham Girl Pipers Marching Band to come and play for my Dad. A surprise party was organised, cryptic invitations sent out and on the day it was a total shock for my Dad and most of the party guests too!

The band performed brilliantly and blew everyone away. It was a surreal experience watching a bagpipe marching band doing their thing on my parent’s lawn, but one I will remember for ever.

Then after the band were done, there were more suprises! A convoy of steam engines on their way to the local pub for a skittles match just happened to pass by. With invitations of beer shouted to them from across the road they pulled in and showed everyone at the party their fantastic machines…

Then after they had left, with the party well under way another surprise floated over the horizon. A local balloon flight decided to take a landing spot in a nearby field. The balloon flew so close overhead that words were exchanged from party revellers to the flying travellers.

The party then went on into the night with wine, song and ping pong. A day to remember!

In the world of social networking it seems that Twitter is the web 2.0 app of the moment. A micro blogging service that allow users to add quick ‘Tweets’ about themselves, their lifestyle, job, company, breakfast, dogs etc.

3 years ago I was asked to put forward suggestions for a quick, personal, update app that allowed a company to put a ‘friendly’ face on their website and grow their social network. I put forward Twitter. At this time they barely had a 50,000 users and was very much in it’s infancy. However, the company in question felt it wasn’t ‘corporate’ enough and shelved the idea.

Moving forward 3 years and Twitter, with it’s few million users, has recently become an integral part of the companys website. This isn’t just a one off. Many companies are now using Twitter to reach a wider audience, to promote their products and increase their traffic. It seems Twittering is fast becoming the new blogging, so much so that the mighty FaceBook has restructured it’s homepage to rival it.

Twitter takes less time to write and perhaps more importantly it take less time to read and with the use of such tools, (FaceBook, LinkedIn, MySpace et al), the possibilities have now been totally realised by many companies, especially in the doom and gloom climate we all seem to be living in today. There seems to be a certain sense of urgency, to be a “part of it”.

But what about good old fashioned blogging? A well written blog will always attract more attention than a tweet. It becomes indexed by the search engines and it’s not confined to a user, it is far more global. The possibilities of using a blog (or blogging platform) when considering a website should never be under-estimated. We have had some great success from constructing sites based around blogging platforms and are continued to be amazed at the development that goes into them. Wordpress in particular is always highly recommended at the Provide Design camp. But now we have many more options/toys to play with.

With the amount of web apps available to web developers a company can reach their target web audience in more ways than ever before. We as web designers, can utilise this time of social networking to create that killer site that really works the way it needs to work as well as look darn pretty.

And that really does make us want to blog more!

Here at Provide Design we don’t like to think of ourselves as Party Poopers. We like to think of ourselves as Christmas Crackers – explosively good and containing lots of nice surprises (and the odd really bad joke). Today we just wanted to write about something which becomes very apparent this time of year.

We’re not being Party Poopers and there isn’t a humbug in sight, but as Christmas gets closer it seems a lot of us use it as a reason to panic and forget about what lies ahead until it is all over and we are comfortably in the New Year.

From a business perspective we have seen many Christmases where everything is rushed into the last few days. Suppliers drop the ball, clients ring expecting the impossible and there isn’t even time to think about the Christmas shopping! This is when detail is missed and our need to get the year over and done with can cloud our foresight and we forget about planning for the coming months.

This year we did it differently. We planned all our marketing activity, we booked our jobs in advance so there would be no need for Christmas Eve deliveries and we made sure that when January comes round it will be a solid continuation on from 2008. No drastic resolutions – just keep stuck to the business plan.

We also employed the assistance of marketing experts to guide us on what our next move should be. Designers and creatives we are, but as marketeers we have a lot to learn – always bring in the professionals to move this part of your business forward.

So this year we will be relaxed and comfy over Christmas knowing what is coming next. Nice feeling – works great with mulled wine.

So Merry Christmas everyone – have a great time. Unwind and if you’ve not done it already, at least mentally prepare for an awesome 2009 – it will be one!
